The Cinnamon You're Eating Isn't Really Cinnamon
One of the most eaten crops that most people have never actually had is cinnamon.
True cinnamon only comes from Sri Lanka.¹ It’s called Ceylon cinnamon after the island’s former name, and it’s what people fought wars over for centuries.² The stuff is thin as paper, less than 0.08 millimeters thick.³ Delicate. The bark has to be peeled by hand from the inner layers of Cinnamomum verum trees, rolled into quills that look like cigars.⁴
